Why Zebra

Experienced Crews.
Equipment We Own.

Zebra Demolition is backed by an established Edmonton landscaping company — the same experienced crews, the same owned equipment, and the same discipline that runs large commercial projects. That is what lets us commit to a date and put enough people on site to actually hold it.

  • Crew depth. Enough people to finish a whole floor or a whole building on the date we gave you — not a two-man outfit stretched across three sites.
  • Our own plant. We are not waiting on a rental yard to free up a machine before your job can start.
  • Large commercial experience. Phasing, site logistics and working around occupied buildings is how our crews already operate.

What We Do

Commercial Demolition,
End to End.

Commercial, industrial, institutional and multi-residential. Every scope quoted on site by the person who runs the crew.

Commercial interior with flooring removed back to slab

Interior Strip-Outs

Whole floors and whole units back to base building — walls, ceilings, flooring, millwork and fixtures out, without touching what stays. Offices, retail, restaurants and institutional fit-outs.

Building & Structure Demolition

Whole commercial and light-industrial buildings — from permits and utility disconnects through to a cleared, grade-ready site. Multi-building programs are where we work best.

Industrial & Warehouse

Shop fit-outs, mezzanines, racking bases and process equipment out of industrial buildings, back to the shell. Nisku, Acheson and the Industrial Heartland.

Winter Capacity

Winter Work?
We're Staffed For It.

Interior demolition runs the same in January as in July — and the building is usually quieter. On a site clearance, frozen ground means cleaner access and less restoration afterwards. We have crews and equipment ready to mobilize on winter dates now.

Winter 2026–27 Outlook: NOAA puts a greater than 90% chance on a very strong El Niño this winter, and ECCC's outlook favours a milder, drier season across much of Alberta — fewer days lost to extreme cold on exterior scopes. What it changes on site →

The Process

How a Job Runs

Six steps from the first call to the final walkthrough. Same on every job.

01

Free On-Site Assessment

We come to you. No charge, no obligation. We walk the full scope, flag anything that could bite later — asbestos risk, structural surprises, access, utility disconnects — and quote on the spot.

02

Schedule & Mobilization

You get a date and a sequence with the quote, and we put enough crew on it to hold that date. If anything threatens it, you hear about it early, not on the day.

03

Property Protection Setup

Floors covered. Walls masked. Dust barriers and negative air where they are needed. We treat the parts we are not touching like they are already finished — because they are.

04

Demolition Execution

Fast and precise. The crew knows where to hit and what to avoid — no guesswork around live services, load-bearing structure or the finishes that stay.

05

Debris & Waste Removal

Dump fees are included. We haul every last piece — materials, rubble, disposal. You do not lift a thing or book a single bin.

06

Final Walkthrough & Sign-Off

We do not leave until you sign off. Walk the space with us — if anything is not right, we fix it before the job is closed.

Before & After

What Handover
Actually Looks Like.

Real Zebra jobs. Left is what we walked into; right is what the next trade walked into.

Before and after: commercial kitchen stripped of fixtures and cleaned back to shell
Commercial Kitchen stripped back to shell
Before and after: floor covered in tile debris, then swept back to bare concrete
Flooring Debris out, slab broom-clean
Before and after: commercial washroom gutted to studs ready for the next trades
Selective Gutted to studs, trade-ready

Who We Work For

The Crew Behind
Your Crew.

Almost all of our work is the demolition scope inside somebody else's project. We show up on the date we committed to, bring enough crew to finish, and hand the space over trade-ready.

General Contractors

A demo sub with the crew size to finish on schedule — no babysitting, no callbacks, no crew vanishing to another job halfway through.

Developers

Redevelopment and multi-unit conversions, phased so the rest of the asset keeps operating and the handover dates hold.

Property Managers

Suite, corridor and common-area programs across a portfolio, with insurance and WCB documentation ready before we mobilize.

Building Owners

Repositioning a floor, a building or a whole asset while tenants are still trading, off-hours where it is needed.

On The Job

Recent Work

Real crews, real sites — commercial and industrial demolition across Edmonton and central Alberta.

Wall stripped back exposing the services behind the finish
Brick and block debris stacked beside exposed electrical panels
Commercial flooring broken up and staged for removal
Commercial interior stripped to bare concrete floor

Where We Work

Edmonton to Red Deer.
Anywhere in Alberta for Big Scopes.

Crews go out across the metro the same week. Past it, we mobilize the crew and the equipment for the block and stay until the work is finished. We go where the work is.

  • Edmonton & the metro — Edmonton, Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Fort Saskatchewan, Leduc, Nisku, Acheson, Beaumont, Devon, Morinville, Parkland County, Strathcona County, Sturgeon County.
  • The Highway 2 corridor, mobilized — Millet, Wetaskiwin, Ponoka, Lacombe, Blackfalds, Red Deer, Innisfail, Penhold, Olds, Sylvan Lake, Rimbey, Rocky Mountain House and Stettler.
  • The towns around Edmonton — Camrose, Tofield, Vegreville, Redwater, Gibbons, Calmar, Drayton Valley, Westlock, Barrhead, Lloydminster, and the counties between them.
  • Anywhere in Alberta — for a whole building, a decommissioning or a multi-site program large enough to justify the mobilization.

Straight Answers

Questions We Get
On Every Estimate

Are you available to start soon?

Yes — that is the point of calling us. We keep experienced commercial crews and our own equipment staged and ready to mobilize, including right through the winter, so we can commit to a start date rather than putting you in a queue. Tell us the date you need and we will tell you straight whether we can hold it.

Do I need a permit to demolish a commercial building in Edmonton?

Yes. The City of Edmonton requires both a development permit and a building permit, and the demolition permit must be issued before a footing and foundation permit can be released — so on a redevelopment the demolition permit gates your entire build schedule. Commercial work runs through the Commercial Demolition Building Permit process; interior-only scopes go through a Selective Interior Demolition application. Buildings on the Inventory of Historic Resources are reviewed by the Heritage Conservation Unit first. We walk the permit path with you during the on-site estimate.

Can you work in an occupied building?

Yes — it is most of what we do. We work in phases around tenants and active trades, set floor protection and dust barriers before anything comes down, and run after-hours where the building requires it. The parts of the building that stay open keep operating.

What about the utilities?

Gas, power and water all have to be disconnected and confirmed before a structure comes down, and the ATCO Gas primary line cutback in particular takes time to schedule — it is the single most common reason a demolition date slips. We flag the disconnects you need at the estimate so they start early rather than surface late.

How is asbestos handled?

Alberta OHS regulations require asbestos-containing materials with the potential to release fibres be dealt with before demolition begins, so anything built before the mid-1990s should be assessed first. To be clear about what we are: Zebra Demolition is not an asbestos abatement contractor. Where a hazardous materials assessment finds asbestos, abatement is completed by a qualified abatement contractor and we schedule our work behind their clearance.

Is disposal included in the quote?

Yes. Hauling and dump fees are inside the quote — there is no separate disposal invoice landing after the job. We hand the space over broom-clean and trade-ready.

What size of job do you take?

Commercial, industrial, institutional and multi-residential scopes with real duration — whole floors, whole buildings, multi-building sites and portfolio programs. That is where a resourced crew is genuinely cheaper to work with than an outfit dipping in and out between other jobs. We do not take single-room residential work.

How far outside Edmonton do you go?

Crews go out across the Edmonton metro the same week. Further out — through Wetaskiwin, Camrose, Ponoka and Lacombe down to Red Deer, and east to Vegreville and Lloydminster — we mobilize the crew and the equipment for the block and stay until the work is finished.
